• TECHNOLOGY GRANT: St.John received a $1,150.00 technology grant from the LCMS to purchase a new computer & digital video camera to allow us to live-stream worship services and archive them to our YouTube channel and to improve the quality of our video recording. Because the equipment is estimated to cost about $5,000.00 a special voters meeting was held after worship Sunday, June 20, 2021 where it was approved to permit the board of Trustees to purchase and install this equipment. COLLECTION FOR TEMPORARY AID PROGRAM (TAP) For TAP to meet the needs of people in Crawford County they depend on regular contributions of basic food items and children's clothing. They always need canned goods of all types.

Many necessities can't be purchased with food stamps (Supplemental Nutrition Aid Program SNAP); paper towels, toilet paper, diapers and personal care items like soap, shampoo and laundry detergent. So, donations of these kinds of donations are particularly welcome.

Cash donations are also very helpful as they enable TAP to buy in quantity and take advantage of sales. They buy ONLY food. If you'd like to give a monetary donation, please give it to Linda Kuhlmann, our church secretary, who will make sure that it goes to TAP at the end of the month.

St.John's donation location is the table underneath the bulletin boards in the front entrance, between the offices and the Fellowship Hall. TAP is located at 210 S. 25th Street. in Denison and is open Mon-Thr 9:00AM-Noon. Or call Connie McGee if you have questions at 263-3538.

Due to Food inspection Regulations we are not allowed to serve creamy or pudding pies, only fruity ones. eg. Cherry, Rhubarb, Apple, Peach, Blueberry, Strawberry Rhubarb etc. All the proceeds from our sales will go towards much needed church building repairs eg. fixing the cracks in the walls or towards new carpeting. LYF; Play Games as a Service Project; Sun Feb 12
LYF members (AND 6th-8th grade confirmation students), this is for you! We are having a project to brighten the lives of the residents of the Reed House in Denison. On Sunday, February 12 at 1:00 PM. We will give them an opportunity to socialize by playing cards and other games with them. Euchre, UNO, Yahtzee and other games are part of the afternoon. We’ll meet at church at 11:30AM, go to Pizza Ranch for lunch (paid for by LYF) and then go to the Reed House for games. We should be back by 3:00 PM or maybe even earlier. Hope you can join us.

LWML Sunday 2015 Litany- Seek First the Kingdom of God

Pastor: Holy God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, As we gather to worship You this day, we are worried!

People: May our hearts be opened to trust You!

Pastor: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God (Philippians 4:6).

Holy God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, As we gather to sing praises to You this day, we are distracted!

People: May our eyes be opened to be focused on You!

Pastor: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10).

Holy God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, As we gather to hear Your Word today, we are clinging to so many things!

People: May our hands be opened to let go of the things of this world while clinging to You and Your Word!

The Giving Quilt Rack

(in loving memory of our past Quilters)
Beginning October 1st we are beginning a new quilting projects. This new journey features a quilt hung over the Quilt Rack in the back of the church by the elevator door. This quilt can be taken by any member of our church family to be given to someone they feel is in need. One does not have to tell where it goes. It is our prayer and hope that the quilts are given from out church family from this "Giving Quilt Rack" will touch the lives and hearts of each and every recipient.
If the Quilt Rack is empty do not dismay, that just means that one has been given to someone in need and another will soon be in it's place. Please join us in this new mission as we share with those around us and may those recipients feel the blessings of our love and prayers within each and every quilt.

The Temporary Assistance Program (TAP)  Needs Our Help!

St.John collects non-perishable food items for TAP every November, but in the wake of plant closings in Denison, need in our area is greater than usual. • ASH WEDNESDAY SUPPER- Served by the Sunday School beginning at 5:30pm; Italian Pasta Casserole, Ham & Cheesy Potato Casserole, green beans, Jello, bread, bars & cookies. Free will offering.
• LENTEN WORSHIP- Midweek services will be held every Wednesday during Lent at 7:00pm. St. John is participating in a rotation with other congregations in the Mapleton Circuit. Each week one of the neighboring pastors will bring a different message in the series.
  The theme this year is "CrossWords," based on the seven words spoken by Jesus from the cross.

• CONTEMPORARY CHORUS- Service of Thanksgiving for 25 years of St.John's Contemporary Chorus, March 30, 2014. Practices set for March 16 & 23 after worship, and March 19 & 26 after Midweek services. If you ever sang in the CC before, we invite you to join us again as we lift our voices in praise of Him who blesses us abundantly.
• AREA LYF MINI LOCK-IN- 7:00pm-Midnight, at St.John, Charter Oak, Friday, March 28. Grades 9-12; St.John, St.Paul Ute, Triple-Parish Ricketts, Immanuel Schleswig, Faith Deloit, & St. John Kiron. The theme is "Whose U R," presented by Shelly McMullen of Our Savior, Denison. Games, food, and devotions. More information coming soon, but mark your calendars now.
• AREA LYF VISIT TO CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY, SEWARD- Open to all high school students, but especially recommended for Sophomores & Juniors considering college choices. March 20-21 led by Rev. Loeschen, Our Savior, Denison. If there is enough interest from St.John, Pastor Merrill may go along too.
• SCHOLARSHIP- Senior Boys planning on attending Iowa State, check in the church office about the Darryl Jahn Memorial Scholarships.
• FAMILY DAY AT KING'S POINTE WATERPARK- Sponsored by the Board of Ed. Sunday March 30. Leaving together from church at Noon. Cost $7.00 (7.49 after tax) Sign-up in the lobby. Guests welcome.

• LYF Members- you're invited to join Lutheran Youth Day at the Orphan grain Train (www.ogt.org) in Ida Grove. We'll leave the church at 3:00PM and pack boxes from 3:30-5:30, then head to Immanuel, Schleswig for supper & a closing devotion. The event ends at 6:30PM so we'll be home before 7:00. Let Pastro know if interested.

• LWML Winter Brunch & Bake Sale- Sunday, Feb. 16th, 11:00AM-12:30PM in the Fellowship Hall; pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, ham, & sausages- Free Will Donation.
• Family Movie Night- Mark your calendars for St.John's 4th annual Family Movie Night, which will be held Sunday, Feb. 16 at 6:00PM in the Fellowship Hall. "Soul Surfer" is the true story of Bethany Hamilton, a champion competitive surfer who against all odds, comes back after losing an arm to a shark attack. Its a free movie with free popcorn and pop- plan now to invite friends.
