JULY NEWS

THIS WEEK
7th 6:30am Men’s Bible Study
    4pm LWML Meeting
11th 6pm Worship with Communion at Immanuel
12th 9am Worship with Baccalaureate

MEETING SCHEDULE--The July church council and voters meetings will be held on their regular dates.  Church Council will meet Wednesday, July 8, at 7:30 p.m.  Voters assembly is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, at 7:30 p.m.

LUTHERAN WITNESS for June and July has an article in the District section (center pull-out section) about St. John's playground ministry and the seven children from our neighborhood who were baptized here in January.  We ordered about 25 extra copies for those who do not subscribe to the Lutheran Witness.  You may pick up a copy at the exit doors as you leave church, or from the church office.

BACCALAUREATE for St. John's graduating seniors will be held Sunday, July 12, at the 9 a.m. service.  Students will sit with their families and will be asked to stand for recognition and blessing following the sermon.  St. John's graduates are:  Tanner Hoffman (graduated from Boyer Valley June 21);  Evelyn Henschen, Ellen Mallory, MaKenzie Smith and Hunter Soll (graduation ceremony July 12 at MVAO-COU High School).

CONFIRMATION SERVICES will be held Sunday, July 19 at St. John (9 a.m.), and Saturday, July 25 at Immanuel (6 p.m.)  Please pray that God would continue to guide our confirmands that they may grow in their faith in Jesus and follow Him all their days. Questioning for all our Confirmands will be held Tuesday, the 14th at 7pm here at St. John.

SERVICE CHANGE--Pastor will be on vacation the week of July 26.  St. John will hold a drive-in worship service outside the church on Saturday, July 25, at 9 p.m.  There will be no Sunday service on the 26th.

VBS--After much prayer and consideration of the current public health situation, St. John is sad to say we have decided to cancel Vacation Bible School for 2020.  God willing and public health conditions permitting, we hope to hold some kind of event for the children of our community in the fall.  We regret that we will not be able to hold Vacation Bible School this summer, but invite everyone to join us for VBS in 2021!

PASTOR MERRILL AND ELLEN MALLORY have recorded videos of some of the favorite songs from Cub Week at Camp Okoboji.  There will be no Cub Week this year, but the videos will be available from St. John's website/YouTube channel as well as Camp Okoboji's website.
